Butter Bliss

As a popcorn maker at a small theater. One Thanksgiving, as the eldest son of a traditional Asian family, he cannot bring himself to tell his family the harsh truth. Unable to bear the weight of their expectations, he spins a colossal lie: he has landed a successful job in the film industry. Sometimes he name-drops famous directors or pretends to be friends with well-known actors. As his family showers him with attention and admiration, his lie grows uncontrollably.

After a seemingly peaceful family gathering, he returns to his life as a theater worker. But an unexpected visitor arrives at the theater, his grandmother.

Embarrassed and consumed with self-loathing, he engages in a deep conversation with her alone in the theater after closing. There, he learns that his grandmother had once been an avid cinephile and, in her youth, dreamed of becoming a filmmaker herself. 

Yet the circumstances of her time and the limited opportunities for women kept her from pursuing that dream. She cannot bear to watch her grandson give up on his as well. Encouraged by her generous love, the spark of ambition is reignited. Together, they become part of the magic of cinema, reclaiming their dreams in ways they never expected.
